For Cancun visitors, the key detail is not just the opening time. The Tulum archaeological zone has an earlier last-entry time than its published closing time, and Parque del Jaguar uses a different timetable.

Current Tulum Ruins opening hours

As of October 1, 2026, INAH lists the Tulum archaeological zone hours as:

  • Opening: 8:00 a.m.
  • Last access: 3:30 p.m.
  • Closing: 5:00 p.m.

INAH’s current Tulum visitor page says it was last updated on August 10, 2026. Because hours and access rules can change, use the official INAH page as the current baseline before travelling.

Last entry is the detail to plan around

Do not plan around the 5:00 p.m. closing time as if it were the final admission time. INAH lists last access at 3:30 p.m., so a late arrival can leave you outside the archaeological zone even though the site has not yet reached its posted closing time.

This matters more if you are coming from Cancun. INAH places the site 128 km south of Cancun, with the main entrance at km 230 of the Chetumal-Cancun federal highway. For a Cancun day trip, build your schedule around arriving well before last access rather than aiming for the end of the day.

Parque del Jaguar has different hours

Parque del Jaguar and the Tulum archaeological zone are connected in visitor planning, but their published times are not identical.

As of October 1, 2026, the official Parque del Jaguar site lists:

  • Opening: 8:00 a.m. daily
  • Last access: 5:00 p.m.
  • Closing: 7:00 p.m.

That means the park’s published last access is later than the ruins’ last access. If your goal is to visit the ruins themselves, follow INAH’s 3:30 p.m. last-access time, not the park’s later cutoff.

Current fee note

As of October 1, 2026, INAH lists the unified Tulum fee as 80 pesos for nationals, with Sunday free access for nationals where applicable, and 265 pesos for foreigners. INAH says the unified fees include CONANP and Grupo Mundo Maya charges.

The fee reduction was announced under Plan Tulum Renace on July 17, 2026. Since fees are time-sensitive, confirm the current amount on the official INAH page before you go.

Bottom line

The Tulum Ruins open at 8:00 a.m., but the practical deadline is 3:30 p.m. last access. Parque del Jaguar may remain open later, but that does not extend admission to the archaeological zone.
