For most visitors, the key point is simple: look for the Museo Maya de Cancún in the Hotel Zone, because INAH lists access to San Miguelito through the museum.

Exact location

San Miguelito is in Cancun’s Hotel Zone on Bulevar Kukulcán. INAH gives the location as Km 16.5 of Boulevard Kukulcán, and INAH Lugares lists the address as Bulevar Kukulcán Km 16+500.

If you are coming from downtown Cancun, INAH Lugares says to take Boulevard Kukulcán toward the Hotel Zone to Km 16, with the site on the left when coming from downtown.

How you enter San Miguelito

As of 2026-10-01, INAH states that access to San Miguelito is through the Museo Maya de Cancún. INAH’s museum page also says the museum visit includes access to the San Miguelito archaeological zone.

That means you should plan it as a Maya Museum plus San Miguelito stop, not as a completely separate ruins entrance elsewhere in the Hotel Zone.

Current hours and entry details to recheck

As of 2026-10-01, INAH lists San Miguelito as open Tuesday to Sunday. INAH Lugares also lists the site as open to visitors.

For last entry, there is a detail worth checking before you go: INAH’s main San Miguelito and Museo Maya pages list last archaeological-zone access at 16:30, while INAH Lugares lists last San Miguelito access at 16:00. Because those are both official INAH sources, use the earlier time if your visit is tight, and recheck INAH before travelling.

As of 2026-10-01, INAH lists the entry price as MXN 210 for foreign visitors and MXN 105 for Mexican national visitors. INAH also says Sundays are free for Mexicans and Mexican residents.

San Miguelito vs El Rey

San Miguelito is not El Rey. They are two separate archaeological zones in Cancun’s Hotel Zone.

Site Location Practical difference
San Miguelito Bulevar Kukulcán Km 16.5 / Km 16+500 Accessed through the Museo Maya de Cancún; works as a museum-plus-ruins visit
El Rey Bulevar Kukulcán Km 18 Separate archaeological zone farther south in the Hotel Zone

Why the site matters

INAH links San Miguelito’s main building phase to 1200–1350 CE and describes its architecture as Costa Oriental style. INAH also identifies Cancun as having El Rey, El Meco, San Miguelito and the Museo Maya, so San Miguelito is part of Cancun’s own Maya heritage rather than a day trip outside the city.
